Mai is a little OP, but most of her abilities won't infringe on others if and when she ever uses them. However, she does know a whole lot about magic and myths and has been shown in canon to be able to identify supernatural beings for what they are, whether they're human-passing or not. This is often at a single glance or after a brief conversation, and sometimes even when the being in question doesn't know what they are. For instance, Makoto and Ayu in canon both had no idea they were anything but normal humans, but Mai talked to them for a few minutes tops and immediately knew they were a kitsune and an ikiryou, respectively. Her powers have now been restored to full. She generally won't disclose this information, usually considering it the other person's business, but it may change how she treats them or talks about them.

Please comment here if your character is nonhuman or otherwise supernatural, particularly if it isn't obvious, and let me know:
-if Mai is allowed to identify what species they are or what's going on with them;
-the basics of that information;
-whether she can tell others (she usually wouldn't do that anyway, but just in case).

I don't know if this is considered supernatural, but Maddie is a magical girl whose powers warp space around her. But in her canon, "magical girls" are just straight up using magic, and their transformation is just a crutch/learning tool and this is entirely her own magical power (so she's got it without transforming, technically, she just can't access it.)

Her cat DEFINITELY applies, as he is actually an eldricht horror from beyond the veils of our universe.

Aya is a tengu (karasu/crow variety)! She looks extremely human and certainly acts more like one than most people familiar with them might expect.

This largely means she can fly, is stronger and faster than a human (especially faster), and has some amount of command over normal crows and wind; wind control is her specialty.

Aya isn't making this a secret at all.

Pidonus here will usually admit to being a Succubus pretty openly - indeed, she's spoken about it in public posts - but Mai finding out without having otherwise had the chance to learn would spook her!

What about people who are technically human but have fun surprises inside them? My man Touma happens to have adorable dragons inside of him.

Also, assuming it is possible for her to realize there are dragons inside of him, would Imagine Breaker interfere with her ability to notice them?

Absolutely, if only because the image of Mai mentioning something and then Touma just sticking his hand on her face sounds hilarious. She usually won't just flat-out say "hey you're X," but she'd probably hint at it, so.

Morgana thinks he's a human who got given amnesia and transformed into a cat/mascot thing by Metaverse distortions. In reality, he's an artificially created magical servant made by Igor in the Velvet Room, literally the last remnants of humanity's collective hope gathered together and given form/sentience to carry out a mission and help save the world. (At least the amnesia part is true?)

Aside from that, he's got wind and healing magic, and Navigator skills, if you're familiar with that role in Persona. Feel free to know this stuff and tell people~

AIDEN'S VERY DEFINITELY NOT HUMAN, but boy is he trying his hardest to hide that fact.

She's more than welcome to call him out on this, but I'd rather her not spread that fact around anytime soon. It... is a thing that he's very insecure about.

As for what he is, though... There's nothing to specifically categorize him as, other than he's similar to a vampire? Kind of (since it's more like magic is slowly warping him)? He has a desire to drink blood, but he's not dead. He can go into the sunlight, but it hurts him. He can use elemental magic + death/life magic, but it (on his world only) changes him more into a non-human.

TL;DR he can function just like a hermit human, but he has some magic powers and awesome strength/speed

Freyja's human, but she's definitely going to ping the 'supernatural' sense, mostly because she's a magical shapechanger. Also her magical signature, for wont of a better term, is the same if she's an animal or her normal self.
Feel free to out her when she's trying to be a sneaky doggo!

Goro is a TWEWY-style Composer, which is...basically a ghostly god of the afterlife. He's also a Persona user, if that would show up. Neither of these things are secret, so she's free to mention it as she likes.

Alastor (superstylishsquid) is a powerful storm demon, and usually walks around with demonic horns, bat wings, and a spaded tail, so she wouldn't really even need her power to tell he's demonic.

Sync appears human, but is a replica. That means that while his body basically works exactly like a human's, he's made entirely of sound fonons that are mimicking the human body. Sound fonons being basically energy particles that are associated with 'sound' along with memory. Anything that was part of him that comes away (like hair falling out, for mild example) will break up into glowy fonon wisps and disperse. His whole body will do this on death.


I am totes okay with Mai knowing this, and he'll mostly just be bitter about it if asked. Telling others is also okay, and just be more bitter inducing really.

Harriet is a human teenager who's been warped into something more than human by serving as host body for…something…for effectively her whole life. The possessing entity is gone now. The cosmic energies of the universe bend and distort around Harriet, especially when she's ready for a fight. I will not be upset if she tells people, and Harriet probably won't either, though I can imagine contexts where it would be IC annoying.

Ruto is from an entirely different universe with different (though occasionally linked) mythology, so I'm not entirely certain any of Mai's knowledge would apply to her...?

She's distinctly nonhuman, though still humanoid. I don't think that Miqo'te (basically catpeople) necessarily have much of a mythological connection, but Mai is totally welcome to presume things about Ruto in the context of Earth myths.

Mai is also willing to tell others what she thinks about Ruto, though again, what part of that will actually be true is questionable...

Mogget is a stupidly powerful creature of Free Magic. He's basically akin to a god. However all that power is very much constrained and unavailable for him to use, though it's still there.

His collar is also stupidly powerful, but it's made of Charter Magic (which is Free Magic that's restrained and ordered by the use of marks). It's actually less a real collar and more a physical representation of the powerful binding spell on Mogget. The bell on it is also powerful Charter Magic but less so, it's like the lock in the binding spell.

Meredith is a magical girl. Actually, she's a robot built to embody the idea of a magical girl. But actually actually, she's an inanimate doll built to embody the idea of a magical girl robot, and Mai will probably see straight down to that level and recognize her as something akin to a golem. She's free to talk about it.
